Joseph A. Rivela is a founder and Chief Strategy Officer at Breach Intelligence, LLC and responsible for the strategic development and execution of information security services and solutions globally. Based in New York City, he has managed and delivered security services to a variety of clients in financial services, insurance, healthcare and life sciences, media, and higher education. He provides clients with expertise in security assessments, IS governance / ISO 27001 strategy development, IT risk management, and privacy compliance services. Joseph has led the development of enterprise-wide security incident response frameworks, delivered security training to leaders of industry and Fortune 500 companies, and has been engaged frequently as an incident coordinator to manage various interstate response teams following the identification of potential security breaches. Previously, Joseph was the director of information security and privacy services in the New York Metro office of Protiviti. While with Protiviti, Joseph was tasked with the development of Protiviti’s penetration testing services, security incident response services as well as the development of team strategy. Prior to Protiviti, Joseph was also responsible for conducting investigations for the New York State Office of the Attorney General's Internet Bureau. While working at the Internet Bureau, Joseph conducted the in-house investigation of business entities and individuals involved in or associated with a variety of online fraud, including spyware, auction fraud, and phishing schemes. Joseph earned his bachelor of science degree in economic crime investigation with a concentration in computer security from Utica College of Syracuse University. He is a member of the NY Metro ISSA Board of Directors and maintains the following professional memberships and certifications: Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP); PCI Qualified Security Assessor (QSA); Archer Certified Consultant (ACC); Certified in Digital Forensics, Marshall University; Basic Digital Recovery & Analysis (BDRA); SANS Hacker Techniques, Exploits and Incident Handling (GCIH).

Carol Anthony

Carol Anthony is Director of Enterprise Security at the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), which is largely responsible for mass transportation for the New York metropolitan region. In this capacity, she is charged with managing a cost-effective enterprise security program and developing a risk-based methodology to its implementation. She also oversees the development of enterprise-wide security policies and standards for the MTA as well as serves as the MTA’s ISO to New York State. Prior to joining the MTA, she worked as a security consultant to the Department of Defense. Her assignments included designing processes for the Pentagon Computer Incident Response Team (PENTCIRT) and managing its day-to-day operation as well as overseeing the web operations for the Air National Guard (Andrews Air Force Base). She has earned both a CISSP, which illustrates her theoretical understanding of security. She has also obtained two SANS certification in auditing wireless networks (GIAC GAWN) and designing networks (GIAC GCFW). These credentials coupled with over 11 years of direct IT security experience, which includes hands-on technical and managerial knowledge, illustrate her commitment to the field. In addition to serving as the Vice President of the New York Metro ISSA, she oversees the BDPA IT Showcase program, a technology research competition for high school and college students. Carol obtained an undergraduate degree in Sociology from Spelman College. Post-baccalaureate studies include coursework in programming and mobile application development at NYU School of Continuing and Professional Studies. Her recent research foci includes mobile/wireless security and secure application development.

Ms. DeWeese has over 20 year of experience in IT Audit and Information Security. Her work has included numerous platforms and industries, including health insurance, banking, education, manufacturing and public accounting. She is currently responsible for IT Process and Controls, which entails liaising with internal and external auditors, and ensuring compliance with regulations such as SOX , HIPAA and HITECH. She has been an active member of the New York Metro Chapter, serving as the Secretary, President, Treasurer and Director. She also served a term as the International Treasurer.

Joel Kazin, CPA, CISA, CISSP, CISM has extensive experience in auditing, designing, deploying, managing and supporting computer environments. Currently Sr. IT Audit Manager at Pitney Bowes, he has worked in as an auditor or consultant for over 30 years. He has his MBA in Finance from New York University and a BS in Physics from Cooper Union.
