Dear Members,

As President of the New York Metro chapter of the ISSA I have the privilege to serve our membership with innovative programs and services.

The mission of the NY Metro Chapter of ISSA (NYMISSA) is to provide our membership with opportunities for professional development in information security. We offer education, networking, mentoring and community outreach. Our monthly programs offer innovative thinking and cutting edge insights into the security threat horizon and provide an environment where peer discussions can take place so that security and risk management practitioners can insights, practical experience and plan for the unexpected.

The Value:
In a market saturated with security organizations, we believe you will find the NYMISSA to be the best value for you. For a nominal Membership fee, our members not only get a wealth of new and state of the business information delivered by excellent and well known speakers but also receive the valued CPE’s required to maintain professional certifications. In addition Members have an opportunity to forge strong personal bonds through networking opportunities which may contribute to career growth.

The Operation:
The NYMISSA Chapter is supported by talented volunteers willing to donate hours of their time each month to support the membership. The Board of Directors and various committees are all comprised of volunteers who are committed to ensuring that our members receive the education they need to prepare for the security problems of tomorrow.

A great part of the success of our programs is predicated on the leadership, vision and gracious support of our various sponsors. Our sponsors, who are industry visionaries committed to fostering community, graciously host meetings at their premises. Their unwavering support contributes significantly to the success of our Programs.

The Deliverables:
The NYMISSA program year runs from September through June. This year we will bring to you a series of monthly educational meetings and several conferences with exhibits as well as social networking events focused on building a closer membership community. We will enhance our network infrastructure to allow us to provide better content delivery, on-line education, make better use of our technology using YouTube, LinkedIN.

To better serve you and ensure that you your time is well spent, we will be taking the lead in exploring educational relationships with the NY Chapters of ISACA, FS/ISAC, IAPP and other sister organizations. We will endeavor to create programs that address security, privacy, risk management, audit and compliance.

As you can see, this will be an exciting year at the NYMISSA with an emphasis on “contributing to your needs”.
